We recognize that starting and building a company is hard. Startups by definition are outliers. Each one has unique needs at various points in their lifecycle.

We think of ourselves as pegs filling in the holes on the pegboard, providing leverage with everything ranging from hiring to sales to strategy; allowing founders to scale, focus and prioritize.

David Hirsch

Prior to Co-founding Compound, David spent his entire career leading sales and BD teams for tech companies working alongside engineering and product functions to commercialize the company's products and spearheading monetization.

Google brought on David as their second employee in the New York headquarters in 2000 at a time when the company was doing just under $3M in revenue. David then spearheaded the company’s monetization strategy by co-founding Google’s Vertical Markets Group and wiring the regional sales team structure. For eight years, he oversaw cross-functional and cross-business responsibilities, all of which helped him to lead both Google’s culture committee and its recruiting initiative and subsequently hire many of the people who lead Google’s sales and business teams today.

Joshua Nussbaum

Josh has been an active member of the NYC technology community since he was a student at NYU, spearheading Startup Week and hosting hackathons for several years before joining Compound, initially as an intern. Since joining forces with David in 2012, he has become an integral part of the Compound team. Prior to joining Compound, Josh worked in Business Development for startup, JustDecide, a social decision-making company. Prior to JustDecide, Josh worked in digital marketing and branding at Bayard Advertising.

Since joining Compound, Josh has taken an active role in leading the firm's investment activity in several categories within the firm such as InsureTech, E-Sports, Digital Health, ML/AI, amongst others.

Michael Dempsey

Michael became passionate about nascent technologies after noticing a dearth of capital being invested into these areas and being inspired by the products these startups were building.

At CB Insights, Michael dove into startups developing nascent technologies and coined this area “frontier technology”. After witnessing CBI grow from 12 to over 80 employees, he joined the investment team at Rothenberg Ventures where he led the team's investment theses in Robotics, Drones, Space, and Autonomous Vehicles. Prior to that, Michael invested in public and private markets at hedge fund Crane Partners, while also managing a small seed stage portfolio out of the fund. Michael grew up in Newton, MA and graduated from NYU with a degree in economics.

Tara Eckert

Tara has worked closely with many portfolio companies and is often deeply involved in many critical operational aspects of these entities, often acting as a "virtual CFO".

Previously, Tara was the Director of Financial Analysis and Controller of Comdata Processing Systems, a transaction processing company that was previously known as Tranvia where she held the same position before being acquired by Ceridian Corp.

Helen Gibney

Helen assists David with Compound's portfolio companies as well as evaluating new investment opportunities.

Helen began her career as an Analyst at J.P. Morgan Asset Management and spent time as a Manager at SoulCycle. Prior to compound, Helen served as Executive Assistant to the Founder & CEO at Roomi.

Dan Zigmond

Dan assists Compound's portfolio companies with machine learning and data science.

Prior to joining Facebook, Dan was the Vice President of Data at Hampton Creek, building the data infrastructure for collecting and analyzing plant biological data, and creating machine learning models for predicting culinary applications of plants. Prior to Hampton Creek, Dan was the Lead Data Scientist at Google Maps, a role he held for over a year after spending over 3 years as the Head of Data for YouTube.
